Towards a competitive faculty providing distinguished academic programs, scholarly research, and sustainable connections with the society.
Mission:
The mission of the CIS department
is to prepare highly skilled graduates to identify and analyze business
opportunities, effectively utilize information technology in business,
government, healthcare, schools, and other kinds of organizations. The CIS
department also aims to establish an environment that encourages learning and
creativity, through academic and research programs that are of high quality.
Moreover, the CIS department educates students for successful careers as
information technology professionals and uses different skills of technology to
help organizations solve complex business challenges efficiently.
CIS department mission confirms
with IT Faculty mission and Mutah University mission and strategic objectives;
hence CIS department supports the following major goal areas:
- Education:
The mission of the Computer Information Systems (CIS) department is to prepare
highly skilled graduates to identify and analyze business opportunities,
effectively utilize information technology in business, government, healthcare,
schools, and other kinds of organizations.
- Research and Innovation: The CIS department aims to
establish an environment that encourages learning and creativity, through
academic and research programs that are of high quality.
- Community Service: The CIS department educates students for successful
careers as information technology professionals and uses different skills of
technology to help organizations solve complex business challenges efficiently.
CIS Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
- PEO 1: Develop graduates capable of
pursing graduate studies, able to communicate effectively considering ethical
principles and apply their knowledge to play active roles in professional
environments to succeed in their careers. This PEO maps with (Education)
strategic goal.
- PEO 2: Provide graduates capable of
understanding growing local and global community demands and use their
comprehensive knowledge and skills of information systems to creatively solve
challenging problems and provide effective support to the society. This PEO
maps with (Community Service) strategic goal.
- PEO 3: Deliver graduates able of utilizing best
technological and research practices to conduct high quality research and
provide novel solutions supporting the development of social, economic and IT
industries. This PEO maps with (Research and Innovation) strategic goal

1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline
6. Support the delivery, use, and management of information systems within an information systems environment.
